Accommodation

Wrocław is gaining popularity as a tourist city. Be aware that finding a room during the summer holidays without earlier reservation is difficult, if not impossible. Therefore we strongly encourage you to book your hotel as early as possible.

The special offers (see below) of the hotels have already expired. If you still need a hotel, you need to contact hotels directy. There probably still are tooms to be booked in HP Park Plaza, but you must be prepared to pay more.

Exchange rates

Polish currency is officially called PLN, although usually you will find name zł. 1 € is a bit less than 4 PLN. 1 USD is a bit less than 3 PLN.

Partner hotels

Several hotels agreed to reserve blocks of rooms for ICALP/LICS/LC/PPDP participants and offer them at reduced prices. For most of the hotels the booking must be made before May 15. Depending on the partner hotel there are two ways of booking a room:

• Usually you should contact the hotel and make reservation on your own. You should refer to name of the conferences — ICALP, LICS, LC or PPDP. The hotels want some data like type and number of your credit (debit) card and its expiry date, your name and surname etc. Standard procedure is to sign an declaration that allows the hotel to charge you for the first night if you reserve the room and do not appear in the hotel. You should use one the forms that are linked at this page. You should double-check that you were given the reduced price.
• To book a place in other hotels you should indicate that in the (electronic) registration form for the conference, see registration. To keep the reservation open you must pay the conference fee in advance. This allows us to pay the hotel for the first night of the reservation if you reserve the room and do not appear on the conference.

The partner hotels are:

HP Park Plaza ****

Relatively new, huge, green building. Looks very international, so you know what to expect. Located directly on the north bank of the river. Cross the river (heading south) and you are in the strict city center. Less than 25 minutes to reach the Institute of Computer Science (walk east, down the river bank, and after less than 10 minutes you pass Tumski hotel).

John Paul 2 Pilgrim's House ***

Belongs to the Catholic Church, and you will notice it. But otherwise it is a normal *** hotel, usually full of German tourists. Very decent in every sense. Brand new building, must have costed a lot of money. Located in "Ostrów Tumski", the spiritual part of the Old City, in a very calm place, next to the University botanical garden. Only 10 minutes walk to the Institute of Computer Science, and also about 10 minutes to the strict city center. Its perfect location and moderate price make it probably the most recommendable option, but we have only managed to book 20 rooms there.

Tumski hotel ***

Old, renovated, small building on a picturesque island. Well known "stylish" restaurant, but we never ate there. 15 minutes nice walk through Ostrów Tumski to the Institute of Computer Science. Less than 10 minutes to the strict center. Very good location, but aren't the trams noisy?

Patio hotel ***

Strict center. Block of old buildings, recently renovated. Crazy design, you can never tell if you are indoors or outdoors. Rooms are small, but otherwise the standard appears to be OK. And only 30 seconds walk to the Market Square. 20+ minutes walk to the Institute of Computer Science.

Duet hotel ***

Same owner as Patio and the rooms look very similar, too. Also old, renovated building, but the architecture is not even remotely as eccentric. The location is a bit less convenient. The hotel is 5 minutes west of Market Square. So to reach the Institute of Computer Science you need to walk 25+ minutes.

Zaułek hotel

Strict center: 2 minutes walk to the Market Square, 2 minutes to the University Old Building (where Leopoldinum and Oratorium Marianum are located), 20+ minutes to the Institute of Computer Science. Very small building (we booked all 12 rooms), relatively new, but with certain charm. The hotel says it is ***, but we are not quite sure what they mean. Owned and run by the University, and you will notice it. Acceptable, maybe even recommendable (especially for this price), but by no means posh.

Campanile Hotel ***

Another French chain, so you know what to expect. 5 minutes further away from our Institute than HP Plaza, less than 10 minutes walk to the strict center.

Kredka

Students residence. Each two (single) rooms share a bathroom. No breakfasts. With every respect it is exactly what you expect from a 20 years old students residence. 10 minutes walk to the Institute of Computer Science, 25 minutes to the city center.

• Available: July 7–20
• Price: 70 PLN. Breakfast is not included. Still you can have a breakfast in a nearby students residence Ołówek
• Deadline: the offer has expired on June 1

Important: due to some rearrangements all the reservations have been moved to the twin residence "Ołówek", which is located just next to "Kredka" and offers the same standard. Address of "Ołowek" is pl. Grunwaldzki 30, Wrocław.

Important: payment for Ołówek is not possible by credit card. Please pay in cash in PLN (EURO is not accepted) directly in the hotel.

Important: The check-in in "Ołówek" is open 23 hours a day. They close between 2 and 3 am.
